Bioprotec Herbicide

Will applying Bioprotec Herbicide to a lawn with clover have any effect on the grass?
The application of the herbicide may cause a slight yellowing of the grass. This yellowing is temporary and your grass should regain its vigor within 3 weeks or less depending on the season and number of treatments. It is also recommended to mow the lawn 48 hours after treatment.

How often should Bioprotec Herbicide be applied to a lawn with clover?
It is recommended to apply the herbicide every 14 days until the desired level of control is achieved. Clover plants store a lot of energy in their roots, and it is necessary to deplete these reserves to eliminate the clover. Do not forget to fill in the space left by the absence of clover with grass. A light topdressing with overseeding will be sufficient.

Is Bioprotec Herbicide effective on the flowers of clover as well?
The herbicide for clover lawn acts quickly on the flowers. As a result, this could also reduce the presence of stinging insects such as bees and bumblebees.

Do I need to dilute the contents of the 4L refill before using it?
No! The solution is already at its optimal concentration. All you need to do is transfer the contents into your sprayer and you're good to go.

Is Bioprotec Herbicide dangerous for my pet?

Do not worry, citric and lactic acids (the active ingredients of this herbicide) are already present in the food chain for human consumption. When used according to label directions, this product should not pose a significant risk to your pet.

Bioprotec Nematodes

What is the difference between Bioprotec Nem Spring and Bioprotec Nem Regular?
The product Bioprotec Nem Spring is made up of two Canadian strains of nematodes that are more resistant to cold and more vigorous at the beginning of the summer season. These species are Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and Steinernema carpocapsae. This product is recommended for use if you want to apply early in the season or if spring is slow to warm up. They are effective once the soil temperature reaches 10°C.

How do nematodes work? Are multiple applications necessary?
Nematodes are microscopic worms that parasitize the larval stage of certain insects and eventually destroy their host. They pose no risk of bioaccumulation in the environment and are safe for humans, mammals, birds, and other animals. For treating white grubs and crane fly larvae, it is best to apply nematodes in the spring and fall to complete the life cycle. If using nematodes to treat other insects, please refer to the following application schedule:

Can we use a sprayer from another brand to spray nematodes?
The Bioprotec nematode sprayer is specifically designed for use with nematodes. However, if you prefer to use a sprayer that you already have at home, it is generally possible. You just need to ensure a good flow and remove the filter located inside most sprayers.

Are there nematode products that cover a surface area greater than 9000 sq ft?
Yes, we also have concentrated nematode products that are made to cover surfaces ranging from 12,500 sq ft to 50,000 sq ft. These products are available on a clay support. It is recommended to use them with agricultural sprayers and to dilute the product well before use.

Bioprotec Traps

The Rose Chafer:

  • This trap is designed to attract and capture the adult rose chafer  (Macrodactylus subspinobus).
  • It contains one bait for increased effectiveness: a floral scent to attract both males and females.
  • It is effective for 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Use the trap from mid-June to mid-August, when the adult rose chafer is active.
  • To maximize effectiveness, place the trap 10 feet away from where the chafers are found, 1 meter off the ground, and facing the wind.
  • The trap is reusable, and the bait is designed for a full season. Only replace the bait the following season.

The Japanese Beetle:

  • This trap is designed to attract and capture the adult Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica) on lawns, trees, shrubs, and in gardens.
  • It contains two types of bait for increased effectiveness: a floral scent to attract both males and females, and a sex pheromone to attract males.
  • Use the trap from mid-June to mid-August, when the adult Japanese beetle is active.
  • To maximize effectiveness, place the trap 10 feet away from where the Japanese beetles are found, 1 meter off the ground, and facing the wind.
  • The trap is reusable, and the bait is designed for a full season. Only replace the bait the following season.

The Apple Maggot:

  • Reusable trap to attract and capture the adult apple maggot (Rhagoletis pomonella).
  • Designed for fruit trees such as apple trees, crabapple trees, plum trees, cherry trees, peach trees, pear trees, and hawthorns.
  • Eco-friendly solution.
  • The ideal time to install the traps is during the bloom of your tree before petal fall.
  • Use one to two spheres per medium-sized tree and hang the traps in the sunniest parts of the tree.
  • Tip: If you have two small trees, you can install a spherical trap coated with adhesive in each tree and place the bait halfway between the two trees. This way, the apple maggot will be attracted to the bait and will seek to lay eggs in the largest apple on the tree, which will be the plastic apple. It will stick there and die.
  • Reuse: The traps are reusable, and each component of Bioprotec Pom is also sold separately.
