Our trap is specifically designed to attract and capture the adult apple fly (Rhagoletis pomonella), a harmful species to fruit trees such as apple, crabapple, plum, cherry, peach, pear, and hawthorn trees. Easy to install, this trap is an effective solution to protect your crops from attacks by these destructive insects. Thanks to its reusable design, you can use it season after season, providing continuous protection to your fruit trees.
Features:
If you have two small trees, you can install a spherical trap covered with coating in each tree and place the bait halfway between the two trees. This will attract the apple fly to the bait and it will try to lay eggs in the biggest apple on the tree, which will be the plastic apple. It will get stuck and die there.
Reuse: Traps are reusable and each component of Bioprotec Pom can also be sold separately.
Life cycle of apple flies: Adults generally appear at the end of June or early July. The eggs, laid by females, are found under the skin of the fruits. After 3 to 7 days, the eggs hatch and the larvae then feed on the fruit pulp. Usually, it is only when the fruit falls to the ground that the larvae, fully developed at this point, emerge from the fruit and bury themselves in the soil. They can remain dormant there throughout the winter and persist in the soil for several years in the form of a pupa. Then, the life cycle starts again.
